Company identities and observed changes

The entity explorer searches GLEIF legal entities without a retained SEC issuer. Use an API key or browser session with intelligence:read and billing access. Accounting relationships are not complete ownership. Candidate names are not confirmed SEC matches.

GET /reference/entities/search accepts name, optional country (two-letter legal-address country), entityStatus (ACTIVE/INACTIVE), registrationStatus and page. GET /reference/entities/{lei} returns the current record and reported parents. Add /children?kind=direct&page=1 or kind=ultimate for child navigation, /timeline for current provider events, /history?page=1 for retained observations, and /compare?from=SNAPSHOT_HASH&to=current for observed changes. Two retained hashes can also be compared.

Lists use 20 records/page, up to 100 pages. Provider results can change between pages. History and comparison respect account reference-history access. Missing fields remain unavailable; observation dates do not establish when a change took effect. Retained coverage varies by entity and starts with observed snapshots, not a reconstructed ownership archive. Existing issuer-linked private change alerts remain in Company Research; browsing sends no email.
