Your first research workflow

Choose a task, inspect source evidence and save useful research for your next visit.

Start here: your first research workflow

  1. Choose your task. Use Search filings for words and passages, Filing catalog for filing metadata, Screen filings for predefined evidence screens, or Compare issuers for selected metrics. For a guided public example, view the live filing example.
  2. Set filters and select Run. Start with a ticker and filing dates, then add the controls offered by that page. Check the applied-filter summary. Editing a control does not rerun the results; select Run again. A research starter loads filters but does not execute or save a search.
  3. Inspect the source. Open a result's source evidence or filing link. Check the accession, reporting period, evidence text and validation state before using a value. A screen match is a research lead, not proof of a breach or a completed transaction.
  4. Understand gaps. No match means no matching accessible indexed evidence, not that the company has no debt or event. A catalog entry can exist without extracted passages. Check Coverage & freshness; unavailable values are not zero.
  5. Explore structured SEC research. Open SEC datasets for financial notes, ownership, fund portfolios and private offerings, or SEC supplemental research for letters, proposed sales, subsidiaries and adviser profiles. Select source records for supported comparisons; inspect dataset coverage before drawing conclusions from missing results.
  6. Keep or follow the research. Create an account or sign in to save supported searches and screens, then manage them in Saved research. Enable alerts explicitly where offered. Use Monitoring for company coverage and alert preferences, and Alert inbox for delivered research alerts. Exports are available in the tools that offer them, including the Analyst workspace; not every result has every export format. Access, history and quotas follow your plan.
